Polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE), or like Doupon’s brand name, Teflon, is an important fabric for leak prevention tapes.  The pure Teflon tape is also called plumber’s tape, or thread seal tape, as they are mostly common in sealing water pipes. But variaions of plumber’s tape can be found in gas pipes with different colors marking their utilities. For example, white thread seal tape is the standard choice for water pipes, yellow teflon tape is specifically designed for gas lines, green thred seal tape is used for oxygen lines as it is grease and oil-free, and pink plumber’s tape serves as a heavy-duty option for water systems. But when combined with fiberglass into PTFE Glass Tape, the material become extremely strong against shear stress.
